A woman struggling to prevent a wide spread blazing fire
consuming her sorghum farm in Jeffisi, a community in the Upper West Region.
This unbearable situation has been attributed to the
numerous contributing factor to food insecurity in the three Northern Regions
especially during the harmattan season, where many farmers loose most of their
farm product due to bushfire.
The situation has also contributed to poverty and hunger in
many of the rural communities when farmers have left with no food to feed on
with their families during the dry season.
Bushfire in the savannah ecology zone over the years has
been identified as one of the major socioeconomic problem stifling the economic
progress of the people in the Northern Region especially among rural farmers
who only rely on this for survival in the dry season.
